New: the phone UI
Your cellphone now has a full modern phone screen. Press F1 (or type /phone) and your character takes the phone out and holds it while you use it. Escape takes you back a screen, and on the home screen it puts the phone away.
- Home screen with the time, the date and your apps. Pick your wallpaper in Settings.
- Phone app: a keypad to dial any number, your recent calls (including missed ones) and your contacts. Incoming calls ring and show a banner even when your phone is away - take your phone out to answer or decline.
- Messages app: all your texts as conversations, with unread badges. Texts sent from the phone work exactly like
/sms($2 each). - Contacts app: save, edit and delete your contacts. Their names then show on your calls and messages.
- Notifications: new texts, calls and posts pop up as banners at the top of your screen.
- Settings: hide your number on calls and texts, switch your phone off, change your wallpaper and turn Unity Social notifications on or off.
- The old commands (
/call,/sms,/p,/h) still work, and everything you do with them shows up in the phone too.
New: Camera and Photos
- Open the Camera app to take photos. E switches to the selfie camera, left click takes the picture and Backspace takes you back to the phone.
- Your pictures are saved in the Photos app. From there you can view them, delete them, post them on Unity Social or make one your profile picture.
New: Unity Social
The city's own social media, on your phone's home screen (the blue bird).
- Create your account with a handle (like @john_smith) and a display name.
- Post up to 280 characters, with a photo from your Photos if you like.
- Reply to posts, like them, repost them to everyone's home feed and mention people with @handle.
- Profiles: set a profile picture and a bio, and tap a name or an @mention to see that person's profile and posts.
- The notifications tab shows who liked, reposted, replied to or mentioned you.
- New posts send a notification to every phone. Don't want them? Settings > Notifications > Unity Social posts.
- Posts follow the same rules as chat. Ask a staff member if you see a post that breaks the rules.
New: paintball lobbies
Press E at the paintball arena to open the new lobby screen.
- Host your own game: free-for-all or teams, the map, the guns, the kill target, the time limit and the minimum and maximum players - or play against bots.
- Make your lobby public or invite-only, and invite your friends by name.
- Join anyone's public lobby, or accept an invite.
- Rounds keep going until the host closes the lobby, with a results screen after each round.
Changes
- The URP Assistant is smarter: it answers questions even without a question mark, and it knows about every feature, including the new phone, Unity Social and the paintball lobbies.
/phonenow opens the phone. The phone animation is now/animphone.
Fixes
- Help and info lines now show the server's current numbers (levels, prices and limits) instead of outdated ones.
- Cinema invites now expire after 30 minutes.
New: NPC police
When there aren't enough police officers on duty, the NPC police answer crimes in their place.
- They respond to bank robberies, store hold-ups, ATM robberies, house burglaries, carjackings and gunfire in the street. Witnesses may call in street crimes.
- Your wanted card shows your stars (1 to 5), what the police are doing and a countdown or a getaway bar. Their search area is the red circle on your map.
- Banks: they surround the building first, and SWAT storms it when the countdown ends - get out before that. Emptying the vault puts you at 5 stars.
- Houses: they wait at the door, then come in.
- Leave a building they saw you in and a hot pursuit starts. At 4 stars and up, more cars come, faster, and they keep you in sight whenever a unit is close.
- They drive well and catch up fast, and if you stop your car near them they pull you out.
- On foot, officers will taze you and cuff you while you're down. A gun in your hand gets one warning - then they shoot.
- To surrender, put your hands up (
/handsupor/surrender) near them. - Caught = jail (4 minutes per star) and a fine of 25% of your cash (up to $50,000). If your cash can't cover it, the rest comes out of your bank.
- To get away: break their line of sight and stay outside the red circle until the getaway bar fills.
- LSPD officers on duty can take an NPC partner with /partner: it follows you, rides in your car and backs you up.
